A test Community Group Registration and Login for a sample Native Restoration Group is now available. All Groups are currently ‘public’ and can be changed to ‘private’, thus limiting access to the Member Group only.
There are currently no Banks Peninsula community websites that allow individuals and small business to interact in a Peninsula community-centric way. The various community trust websites and a number of community website and Facebook pages are in place and we are hoping to provide an umbrella function to bridge any unnecessary divides. Another objective for this website and one that we hope will become useful to many small businesses is aimed at attracting visitors to the area. This way we will contribute to efforts to provide another broad based online gateway to products and services provided by small businesses and individuals.
The Members section (Community Groups) of the website will be used to manage content provided by Community Group members. The structure of the Members Section is under development and we hope to have a useful prototype up and running by the end of July 2020.
The design concept is for a separation of member only and public pages. The member pages will allow for file and image repositories accessible to members only as well as protected blog and commentary functionality that will allow for a broader based community dialog, initially for members of a group only.
A dynamic, modern and up-to-date, secure (https://) web-site, supported by social media and promotional material available to all community groups, businesses as well as private accommodation providers on the Peninsula.
We hope to be able to provide a monthly membership service free of charge. At present we are investing our own time and money to get us at least past a proof of concept phase. We plan on providing a one-time or regular donations function for ongoing website maintenance and development. The idea will be that members would be asked to contribute donations if they benefit financially from use of the site. We want to avoid a membership fee based solution, certainly over the coming months of uncertain business prospects.
Your feedback and ideas are most welcome.
